Man Failed To Appear After 2001 Arrest In Darien Caught In Stratford

A man arrested in Darien 18 years ago is facing a new charge after being caught in Stratford during a traffic stop, police said.

Shortly before noon on Wednesday, Jan. 30, investigators at the Darien Police Department were notified by officers in Stratford that they had conducted a traffic stop on a Stratford man wanted for failure to appear in court.

Police said that the driver, 52-year-old Jeffrey Drescher had failed to appear in court for an arrest in Darien in 2001. Officers went to Stratford and took custody of Drescher, who was transported back to police headquarters and charged with second-degree failure to appear.

Following his processing, Drescher was released on $1,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Stamford Court on Wednesday, Jan. 13 to respond to the charges.
